Industry Veterans Bruce Brandes and David Kirshner Expand Company’s Go-To-Market Capabilities

CHICAGO, IL – July 16, 2013 – Valence Health, a leading provider of clinical integration, population health and financial risk management solutions, is pleased to announce the appointment of two industry veterans to leadership positions to help drive innovation and growth. Bruce Brandes will serve as Executive Vice President for Growth and Innovation, bringing 25 years of executive management and business development experience to extend Valence’s mission of delivering technology-enabled services in support of value-based care and payment models. He will work closely with David Kirshner, who joins Valence Health as Vice President of Corporate and Business Development.

Brandes was most recently Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer of AirStrip, where he helped pioneer the introduction and widespread adoption of mobility in healthcare and advised on the evolution of digital health. He will continue to serve on AirStrip’s Board of Advisors. Previously, Brandes held leadership positions at IBM, Eclipsys and HealthStream. He also currently participates as Entrepreneur in Residence at the University of Florida Warrington College of Business, his alma mater.
“I am thrilled to be working with this remarkable team at Valence Health to help deliver proven solutions for healthcare executives as they consider their optimal transition path to value-based care,” said Brandes.

In his new role at Valence Health, Brandes will define and lead initiatives that will accelerate Valence Health’s already rapid growth. He will be opening a new office for the company in Nashville, TN.
As Vice President of Corporate and Business Development, David Kirshner will bring a particular focus to the company’s efforts in the pediatric segment, while also helping create meaningful client and partner relationships throughout the broader market. He has led the financial turnaround of four major hospitals, including Boston Children’s Hospital. He has worked closely with trustees, physicians and senior management to support strategic investment, financing structures and physician-hospital financial and clinical integration. Kirshner previously served as Vice President, CFO and Treasurer of Boston Children’s Hospital, and as a member of Warbird’s CFO Consulting Network. He was a very active member in forerunner associations of the Children’s Hospital Association, and is a frequent industry speaker on challenges and opportunities facing large specialty and standalone hospitals. He holds an MBA from Boston University.

“Both Bruce and David have helped to create the kind of innovative healthcare organizations that will thrive under the rapidly evolving healthcare delivery model,” said Phil Kamp, Valence Health CEO. “We eagerly anticipate the contributions they’ll make at Valence Health, increasing our ability to provide clients with a clear path to clinical integration, population health, and value-based models.”
